Jessica & Josh // Jamul, CA

It was our privilege recently to film the wedding of a close friend, Josh Carter, and his beautiful fiance, Jessica. Not only is Josh a personal friend of everyone at FortyOneTwenty, he’s also one of our pastors at Existence Church here  in San Diego. So, we were all excited to celebrate this huge moment in their lives as their cinematographers, their guests and their friends!

We kicked off the morning at Solutions Hair Design in La Mesa with Melissa Cunningham styling hair and Devin Francian on makeup. Then it was off to Jessica’s friend’s place in Jamul for finishing touches and the dress. When both Jessica and Josh were ready, everyone rendezvoused at this amazing historical bridge for the first look. I don’t think they could have picked a better setting…so awesome!

When we arrived at the ceremony and reception venue, we were pleasantly surprised with a beautiful, quaint backyard setting. One of Josh’s fellow pastors at Existence, Shawn Kennedy, officiated while Megan and Evan from Megan Ann Photography captured the moments in stills. Once the “I Do’s” were done, kisses exchanged, and recessional receded, it was time for dinner. And oh what a dinner it was. Six different kinds of salsas, mouth-watering guacamole and light, crispy chips were the appetizers. Then, three different varieties of delicious street-style tacos: carne asada, carnitas, and pollo. It’s making me hungry just writing about it…

Congratulations Josh & Jessica! We love you both and can’t wait to see you when you get back!

Genevieve & Michael // Rancho Cucamonga, CA

It’s always a lot of fun to shoot the wedding of a fellow filmmaker! When we sat down with Genevieve & Michael for the first time in person, we probably spent the first half hour just talking shop. Meanwhile, Genevieve waited patiently for us to move onto something more interesting…like their wedding :)

As a big believer in the power and importance of film, Michael gave us the green light to do whatever we needed to do to make this film awesome. Forget personal space, never mind the audience… just get the shot. Complete free reign and artistic license? We accept.

Needless to say, this was a fun one to shoot and the two of them were just overflowing with personality and energy. On a side note, Michael produced a short engagement music video for Genevieve that is absolutely hilarious (check it out here). Congratulations to the both of you!

Anne & Raul // San Diego, CA

I think Raul’s best man said it best when he observed that, “one thing [he's] always been amazed with with Raul and Anne is how just in love and how happy they are.” We’ve only know them for a short time but it couldn’t have been more obvious to us how true this is. That sense of anticipation and happiness from Raul and Anne throughout the morning really made it such a joy for us to watch and capture.

After hair and makeup was completed in the bridal suite atop the Manchester Grand Hyatt’s tower, the party headed over to the beautiful Immaculata Church at the University of San Diego for the ceremony. With nuptials complete, we all headed back to the Hyatt for an amazing reception crafted by the ever-so-talented Alexandra Rose Lee of AR Affairs. This was definitely a reception to remember. There was even a live mariachi band! Need I say more?

Congratulations to both of you, Anne & Raul!

Priya & Harsha // San Diego, CA

The day started on the 39th floor on the Manchester Grand Hyatt overlooking the bay, Seaport Village, and downtown San Diego. There’s definitely something to be said for having a spacious bridal suite when you need to squeeze in family, bridesmaids, photographers, cinematographers, make-up artists, hair artists, and of course, the bride herself. Thankfully, there was room to spare!

When Priya and Harsha where finally ready to see each other for the first time in full regalia, we all headed out to the grassy peninsula behind Seaport Village. The smiles on their faces at that first glance were priceless. After that they went off with the photographers for pics with family and friends. Shortly after, it was time for the barat. Now, I’m no equestrian…but the horse that Harsha rode in on was enormous! Very impressive.  Once the parade reached the bride’s family, the whole party proceeded up to the 3rd floor pool deck for the ceremony. Being that this was late September and San Diego, it was of course ridiculously hot outside but that didn’t seem to deter anyone from enjoying this beautiful ceremony.

The reception was no less spectacular. Taking place in one of the Hyatt’s huge ballrooms, the night was packed with great food, a live band, and even a special choreographed performance from a group of guests. Overall, it was an amazing day and we felt blessed to be a part of it. Congratulations, Priya & Harsha! We wish you both the very best!
