Paul & Andrea // La Jolla, CA

We had the great pleasure of filming Paul and Andrea’s wedding in beautiful La Jolla, Ca. The morning started with a great surf session from the guys, we really enjoyed getting some shots of Paul and his groomsmen in the water. Andrea and the other bridesmaids got their hair done and then headed over to Hotel Parisi to finish getting ready. There was a really nice first look on the balcony of her room, and then it was off to The Museum of Contemporary Art for a beautiful ceremony and fun reception. We especially enjoyed the run through the tunnel of sparklers at the end of the night…just so fun to shoot!

Congrats Paul and Andrea!

Drew & An // La Jolla, CA

Drew and An were a very fun and unique couple, we had a blast shooting their wedding. It turned out to be a beautiful day, and it just made the whole video look bright and colorful. An got ready at the Grande Colonial in downtown La Jolla, while Drew and his guys got ready at his parents house. The ceremony was held in Scripps Park, and the reception was at the super modern and cool Georges by the Cove.

Congratulations Drew and An!

Stephen & Caroline // San Diego, CA

We had a blast filming this wedding! Stephen and Caroline are both great people to be around, and it made for a very enjoyable shoot. We were hoping and praying all week long that it wouldn’t rain on their wedding day….but it just wasn’t to be (I’m not sure how that’s possible seeing as it hardly ever rains in San Diego). Caroline had to make the incredibly hard decision to move the wedding indoors, but what a great decision it was. It was pouring down when it came time for the ceremony, and having the wedding inside the Hyatt ballroom was beautiful! The reception was shot at the Bayview room at Marina Village. Their theme for the wedding was snow and sand, so you can see that in a lot of the reception shots. They even had kids throw fake snow down on them during their first dance! Now that’s commitment to your theme.

Congratulations Stephen and Caroline!

Shane & Sabrina // Coronado, CA

We had a great time shooting Shane and Sabrina’s wedding this past weekend. The whole day really went smoothly, and the wedding was beautiful! I’m a fan of the ceremony not dragging out too long…this one was over in a about 10 minutes. Incredible!

We shot at the Loews Hotel Resort on the Strand and Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley for the getting ready parts. The ceremony and reception were both at Breakers Beach on the Coronado Naval Base. It was really a cool experience shooting on the base. The landing strip was really close, luckily we didn’t have too many helicopters or planes landing during the ceremony.

Special thanks to our good friend Megan of Megan Ann Photography, she was great to work with. Also wanted to thank Erin Melton from Behind The Bride for coordinating a great wedding.

Congratulations Shane and Sabrina!

Blair & Erin // Laguna Beach, CA

This past Saturday we shot another wedding in beautiful Laguna Beach, California. The wedding was amazing, and we were very blessed to work with the Youngrens (an amazing photography duo). Blair and Erin were both great to shoot, and the wedding was very gorgeous. You could point the camera almost anywhere and find an amazing shot just waiting for you. Very cool. If you have a minute, watch our newest highlight film.

If you have more time…check out the Youngrens photography site and blog. They are REALLY good at what they do.
Congratulations Blair and Erin!!!

Shooting Our First Wedding…

Well, that was interesting. We’ve had several days to digest the wedding, and looking at the footage I think we did a pretty good job. There are definitely some kinks we will have to work out for the next shoot (Oct. 24th), but overall we captured some beautiful video. It was crazy having the pressure of worrying about all the important shots (bride and groom getting ready, first seeing each other, ceremony shots, first dance). I think we handled it well, especially seeing as we had brand new equipment we were shooting with.

The cameras held up really nice. We didn’t have any problems with over-heating, and thankfully had plenty of Compact Flash cards for both cameras. We did find that shooting on zoom lenses without some sort of stabilizer creates strange jello effects to the image, but that’s something we can easily change for the next shoot.

The above picture is of Steve Cachero, one of our talented cinematographers. We’ll have a preview of the wedding up in the next couple of days…it’ll be posted on Facebook as well.

Po & Candis // San Diego, CA

Wedding? Yup, you heard me right. FortyOneTwenty is now shooting wedding videos. This was our first crack at it. It was a real challenge working with our new Canon 7D cameras…lots of kinks we still need to work out, but I’m really happy with the result. If you have a minute, check out the trailer we put together above. Congratulation Po and Candis!

Also, if you know anyone that might want a video for their wedding…don’t hesitate to send them our way.

New Canon 7D Cameras!

This week has felt like Christmas for us here at FortyOneTwenty. On Tuesday I got a call letting us know that our pre-ordered Canon 7D cameras were finally in and ready to be picked up. We’ve been playing with them and really getting a feel for using a photo camera to capture HD video. It’s really different, but the images you can capture are beautiful!

We are selling our current video setup and transitioning to a more light weight situation with these new 7D cameras. With this new transition we are hoping to delve into the wedding industry. It’s a new thing for us, but we are very confident in creating high quality films on the design side…so the hope is that it will translate to weddings.

Keep an eye out for a preview of our first wedding shoot coming up on the 3rd of October, we should have something to show that next week.
